Hubbard Construction Takes on a New Type of Project: US 19 is Hubbard’s First Build-Finance Project

US 19 is Hubbard’s first build-finance project. What makes this project unique is that Hubbard has agreed to finance portions of the project and FDOT will pay the money back in installments.

Project Specs:

A 2.4 mile section of US 19 will be converted to a six lane limited access roadway with two lane frontage roads added northbound and southbound. The contract consists of 190,000 CY of excavation, 450,000 CY of embankment, 42,000 feet of storm drain pipe, 420 drainage structures, five bridges, 65,000 tons of asphalt, extensive water, sewer and other utility relocations, MSE walls, lighting, ITS and signing.

Project Description:
Full reconstruction and widening of a 2.9 mile section of US 1 in St. Lucie County from two through-lanes in each direction plus one bi-directional turn lane to three through lanes in each direction plus dedicated turn lanes.  This project included a new drainage system, pond excavation, signalization for five intersections, signage, landscaping, irrigation, sidewalks, median separators, gravity walls, box culvert extensions, concrete sheetpile, pond liners, existing roadway removal, roadway excavation, stabilization, base and asphalt.

Hubbard Group’s largest stimulus funded project: Tampa International Airport

Project Description:

Tampa International Airport plans on building a second terminal by 2025. In advance of this development, and with $8 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the airport has combined two projects within one contract:

  • The North Terminal Stormwater Improvement Project (bid-build) consists of site development to accommodate the future Terminal development (300,000 CY pond, 8,600 LF of channel excavation, and 4,000 LF of box culvert).
  • The Taxiway B Rehabilitation and Bridge (design-build) consists of the demolition of an existing taxiway, and the reconstruction of an elevated taxiway, including a cast-in-place post-tensioned bridge for aircraft traffic. This project also includes new fuel line construction (double-wall 18/22” pipe), airfield signage and lighting, FAA duct bank work, and a stormwater drainage system.

SR 417 Interchanges at Moss Park and SR 417 and Innovation Way

There are actually two contracts involved, both being constructed for the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority. The projects are immediately adjacent to each other and to the public eye would appear to be the same project. Pile driving operations for both projects were completed in April and earthwork, MSE walls, drainage, roadway, electrical and concrete work is also proceeding according to schedule, as is the toll plaza building construction. The two projects are both currently on target for December 2009 completion.

Hubbard Construction Wins Bid for US 19 in Clearwater

The $103 million project is the largest contract at Hubbard to date. It also is the first Build/finance project at the company.

Hubbard Works 1 Million Man Hours without a Lost Time Injury

Hubbard Wins Quality in Construction Awards

The National Asphalt Pavement Association has awarded four Orlando Paving Company projects with the 2008 Quality in Construction Awards.  The projects receiving recognition are:

SR 436 from Curry Ford Road to the Seminole County Line for the Florida Department of Transportation.

Widening of South Access Road, Orlando International Airport for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority & OCD

528 Mill & Resurface from Boggy Creek Road east to SR 520 for the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority

Airport Boulevard for Seminole County, Florida & OCD

HCC’s West Palm Division Recognized

January 14th, 2009

West Palm Beach Construction recently received the Best in Construction Award for maintenance of traffic on the Boynton Beach Boulevard project by the Florida Transportation Builders Association. This was a $6 million project with a 362 day duration. The job was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
